In this era, home offices are back in style. Libraries and studies used to be the designated room for the homeowner’s impressive desk, but now, you can make room for office space in multiple areas of your home. Where should I put my home office, you ask? Any of these places might work for you.
Where Should I Put My Home Office?
Spare Bedroom
The spare bedroom that no one but guests use is one of the best places to situate your work-from-home setup. Easily use the room as an office in daily life, a lounge space during breaks, and a hotel-like guest bedroom when the call for hospitality arises.
Living Room
You could do this one of two ways. One option is to place a desk in a corner of your living room, creating a separate zone from the rest of your living room. It is easy to put a desk behind a couch, in a corner, or in a corner facing a window. If you have a waterfront home, you could look out on the water!
The other option is to turn one of your living spaces, like a parlor at the front of your house, into a dedicated study/office. This option would leave you with one main living room or two if you also have a rec room.
Finished Attic
Do you have a finished attic separate from the rest of the house? You could turn this space into your home office retreat! It can double as a man cave, a lady loft, or a spare bedroom. When it has limited connection to the rest of the house, you can keep work separate from home life better.
Kitchen
If your kitchen has room, you could design a desk into the plan. It could be the perfect place not only to work from home but also to take care of your mail and bills. Once again, it’s an opportunity to take advantage of some stunning views!
Designated Study/Library
Why not have it all? You could go with a traditional floorplan that includes a study or library while keeping both living rooms, your kitchen, and your guest rooms intact. The study might have its own exterior entrance, be close to the front door, or be its own building.
