These spring cleaning hacks are easy and affordable. Check them out here!
A newly built custom home is a beautiful place to be. It is amazing to move into a brand-new home that is built just for you in your ideal location. Even so, even new homes need maintenance. With the daffodils blooming and the cherry blossoms on their way, there is no better time to use these spring cleaning hacks and tips.
1. Wash Appliances and Cleaning Tools
Your laundry machines, air conditioner, vacuum cleaner, dishwasher, etc., all need to be cleaned as well. Each kind of machine has its own maintenance needs. For example, air conditioners need filter replacements, and laundry machines and vacuums need wiping out.
2. Steam-Clean Your Microwave and Dishwasher
As for your microwave oven and dishwasher, you can cleanse them by running them with nothing but a bowl of white vinegar, water, baking soda, and lemon inside of them. Run your microwave oven for a few minutes or until steaming, and run your dishwasher on a hot water cycle.
3. Remember Your Dryer Vent
Dryer vents take moist, hot air from your clothes dryer to the outside of your home. Dryer vent fires are unfortunately more common than you think, but you can avoid them easily by disconnecting the hose and vacuuming it.
4. Use Baking Soda to Deodorize
Baking soda is a great household item that captures odors. You can place a small dish of baking soda on your kitchen counter to eliminate cooking smells; you can also scatter baking soda on your carpet, let it sit, and then vacuum it up to refresh it.
5. Wipe Windows on a Cloudy Day
Your window cleaning solution will dry quicker if the sun is shining, potentially leaving streaks. A trick to avoid streaky windows is to wipe them on a cloudy day.
6. Reuse Dryer Sheets
Save money and make the most out of what you have in a smart way! You can use used dryer sheets to dust your furniture, picture frames, etc., without creating static.
7. Donate and Mend
Donate clothing, books, and other items that you hardly use. Your home might be clean, but clutter makes your home feel worse than it has to. If you can mend older clothing, you can keep fabrics out of the landfill.
8. Clean Stainless SteelĀ
A teaspoon of dish detergent and a quart of hot water can create a mixture that works great on stainless steel. Make your stainless steel appliances shine!
